Participants will develop innovative and technology-based solutions to address challenges facing law enforcement and communities of colors.

Parking

What Should I Expect?
Fun (and lots of food). Plus, an opportunity to develop a cool work product by working alongside individuals from outside of your normal sphere of influence, who hold different perspectives and professional and personal experiences. How Can I Prepare?
Come ready with your ideas. In particular, be ready to share with the group your best solution to addressing a tension point between law enforcement and one (1) of the designated groups: Immigrant, youth, bystander, individuals, or persons with disabilities.
Following our introduction, you will have an opportunity to share (in 60 seconds or less) your proposed solution. And, you never know, your solution may be one of the 10 best ideas/solutions selected for teams to develop and build throughout the day.
Technology and I don't get along well. I'm not software development or programmer. Can I still participate?
Yes! You certainly can! ABA JusticeHack is a community initiated event and our goal is gather diverse participants from all segments of the Miami community. If the topic is of interest to you, please join us.
Do I need a laptop?
If you have one, please bring it. While not guaranteed, a limited number of laptop computers will be available onsite for use by participants and teams who do have access to personal computers.
Who Owns What?
ABA JusticeHack is operated on an open source model. We firmly believe that a free and unencumbered exchange of ideas, information, solutions, tools and learnings is critical to creating an environment where people are allowed to learn and use existing information toward creating new ideas. Accordingly, all work product is contributed via an open source model. More details here.
What are the goals for ABA JusticeHack ?
- Identify and prioritize issues and solutions to tension points relating to interactions between law enforcement and pre-designated user groups (youth, bystander, immigrant, individual and persons with disabilities).
- Wireframe innovative and tech enabled solutions aimed at building alliances between law enforcement and communities of color.
- Team objective: (1) Determine if selected solution is feasible; (2) develop a workable model that could be scaled up later; and (3) prepare a presentation to pitch your best solution.
Are there APIs or Data Sets Available?
